Invoice Financing for Agencies

See which agency invoices may qualify, what documents to prepare and what happens during review.

Receivables financing

By Lucky Hand Team · Original guide reviewed by Madelaine D’Angelo, CEO · Reviewed September 2026

Start with a specific unpaid invoice and identify the business legally responsible for paying it. On an agency campaign, that might be the brand, the agency of record or another contracting company. The invoice and supporting documents should make that relationship clear.

Which agency invoices may qualify?

Start with invoices for earned work that identify the customer, the amount due and the payment terms. A signed agreement or purchase order, evidence of delivery or acceptance, and a reliable payment history help explain the receivable. Flag credits, disputes, unapproved milestones, offsets and overdue balances early so they can be reviewed.

What to put in the invoice file

  • A copy of the issued invoice, with the invoice number, customer name, amount and due date.
  • The signed contract, purchase order or statement of work that supports the charge.
  • Delivery records, approvals or acceptance evidence, where applicable.
  • A current accounts receivable aging report and notes on any disputes, credits or other adjustments.
  • Relevant payment history and recent bank statements if requested during review.

What happens when you submit an invoice?

Underwriting reviews the customer, the invoice and the underlying work. Under a receivables-backed credit line, approved receivables may support a draw, subject to available capacity and the terms of the facility. Repayment and the handling of customer collections follow the financing agreement.

Use the invoice eligibility checklist to spot missing information before submitting an inquiry. If you are deciding how much cash your agency needs, start with the cash-gap guide.
